A marriage of heaven & earth in Glastonbury Abbey
Adventures in Avalon
Drove up to Glastonbury to spend time near /on the meeting of the Mary & Michael earth energy lines in Glastonbury Abbey. After a smooth and blessed non-stop 3 hours drive, upon entering the town, two very low flying crows choose my car to pass over in a ‘welcome’ flight. At the Abbey parking there was 1 parking place left, obviously arranged by my Parking Angel, so I thanked it and manoeuvred my car into the tight spot, got out, tucked the mirrors in and stretched my legs. Ah, it’s been a while since I was here. More than a year ago. I realised I didn’t have enough change for the parking meter and needed a way to change some money. Luckily, my favourite mushroom pasty baker, Burns The Bread, had opened a little shop on the parking’s corner. I walked into the store and scored my lunch plus got small change back for the meter. Yay, two objectives settled with one action. Armed with a bag filled with winter warmers, I walked into the Abbey Grounds and greeted the Holy Thorn descendant.
It had tiny red berries as well as some newly opened buds. Symbol of harvest past and harvest yet to come. Snowdrops flanked the path that led to the part of the ruined Abbey where the High Altar and Arthur & Guinevere’s tomb is found. It is also the meeting place of the Mary & Michael earth energy lines. Silently, I greeted the King & Queen and made my way towards the High Altar. Someone had left a reed cross on the grass near the altar. As if they had dowsed for the crossing point of Mary & Michael and marked it with the reeds. It was then that I wanted to take my own dowsing rod out and map the lines, but realised I had forgotten to take it with me! Mm, maybe finding the crossed reeds was a blessing waiting to make up for the forgotten rod. At least, I choose to see it that way.
After soaking up the spiralling energies into my own energy system, I searched for the best positioned garden bench to make it my base for the afternoon. One behind the High Altar, in the back against a crumbled chapel corner, that looked like it would catch the least cold wind was chosen and with a smile I draped the black sheepskin on it. That should keep my bum and back warm! I tucked my legs in with a woollen blanket and grabbed the mushroom pasty from the bag. While enjoying the lunch, I noticed the white doves that apparently lived in the ruined walls from what was once a great Abbey. They ate from the greenery peaking out from the crevices and courted each other in graceful flight. The trees in the surrounding park come from different parts of the world, mostly as gifts to the Abbey.
This place is situated in the heart of Glastonbury, a place that is considered to carry the Heart Chakra energy of the earth, as well as the Third Eye chakra (currently, it is said to be flexible and moving). This makes it an ideal place to go to after last night’s eclipse and full moon. Usually an eclipse triggers a release in the earth energy lines, a sort of re-set, and imbues them with the prevalent new cosmic energy. The meeting of the Mary and Michael lines in the Abbey grounds, two major ‘meridians’ filled with complementary earth energies, is the first crossing of three of their alchemical meetings in Glastonbury; the other two being in King Arthur’s court in the Chalice Well garden en the third up on the Glastonbury Tor. I like the one in the Abbey as it feels like they are ‘wed’ there, then carry ‘creation’ in the womb of the Chalice well and give birth of the creation up on the Tor where it is broadcasted into this realm. By being near the Abbey crossing of Michael & Mary for several hours and use its energy symbolically, is making the best use of it in harmony with cosmic energies. Marrying the land with the cosmos.
This is also where the King & Queen theme ties into. In ancient tradition, a King was chosen by the Earth Goddess based on his service and benevolence to the land and its people. (This is the very short version of a much deeper mystery.) The King would be wed to the land, hence I like the very appropriate presence of the High Altar in this place. You see, there are much deeper aspects and layers to this place, to Glastonbury/Avalon, and depending on one’s focus, it will reveal its secrets. Lost in my writing, I completely forgot the freezing cold and it wasn’t until my hands wouldn’t co-operate any more that I realised I had to take care of my body and find a place to get warmed up. My feet were so numb and cold, I did a fabulous impression of a zombie walk, straight into the Blue Note café where a large cappuccino warmed me from the inside.
It may not look like an eventful day on the outside but on an inner level it was a syncing up with the symbolic energies and themes as a statement to the Universe. You see, the effort and time taken, almost a whole day, has been one of deliberate focus and intent. And even though nothing exciting may have happened (yet) on the outside, it was quite meaningful on the inside.
